With about two centuries of history and over ten generations, Château Léoville Barton represents the passion of the esteemed Barton family for wine, manifesting itself in the elegance and consistency that characterize each vintage. Classified as a 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, this property is rooted in the iconic terroir of Saint-Julien. Château Léoville Barton played a pivotal role in the history of Saint-Julien, including plots that now house the prestigious Château Léoville Las Cases and Château Léoville Poyferré. This property was once the largest in Saint-Julien. With 51 hectares of vineyards, Château Léoville Barton is planted with 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The predominant gravel terroir, supported by clay subsoil, provides a solid foundation for vine cultivation, with an average vine age of 30, some nearing 60 years. An impressive 9,000 vines per hectare reveals a commitment to quality, while approximately 50% of the vineyard is cultivated organically, emphasizing respect for nature and the pursuit of authenticity.
